In school, we mix a range of core texts with the requirements set out in the National Curriculum to offer a progressive and systematic structure to teaching. For detail on these texts please see individual year groups pages.
As a school, we use Ruth Miskin’s Read Write Inc. (RWI) as a our synthetics phonics program.
Once Children have moved away from RWI they move onto the Accelerated Reader program, which carefully pitches texts at an individuals current level. This is done through short and purposeful quizzes which assess children’s accuracy.
As a school, we have produced our own whole school curriculum for maths. This was produced by looking at the requirements set out in the National Curriculum, these were then distributed across the year to ensure that skills are both progressive and appropriate throughout a child’s experience at Woodham Burn. We invite anyone who wishes to view the document in greater detail to ask at the main office – an outline of topics can be found on individual class pages.
Our long term curriculum for the whole school can be found in the document linked below. It is currently subject to review to ensure that it meets the needs of our children.
