Year 2

We are delighted to be teaching the wonderful children moving into Year 2 and look forward to a busy but exciting Autumn Term.

Within Year 2, we have Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Solly, who work together in a job share role supported by Mrs. Dowson (TA)

  • Mrs. Anderson (Mon pm, Thu pm, Fri am/pm)
  • Mrs. Solly (Mon am, Tue am/pm, Wed am/pm, Thu am)

The Victorians

This term we are learning all about Victorian life. We will be using our historical knowledge to write non-fiction reports and create pieces of art. We will also be learning about George Stephenson and his amazing inventions. Any extra home research is always welcome!

Science

We will be using our scientific knowledge to learn about materials, their properties and their uses.

PE

This term PE will be on a Wednesday and Thursday, but children need to keep their PE kits in school right up until half term, so that they are available for any extra PE lessons.

Homework

Spellings will be sent home on a Friday, for a test the following Friday.

Maths homework this term will focus on learning x2, x5 and x10 tables from memory, and rapid recall of facts.

Reading scheme books will be kept in school for daily reading (Y2 – Y6). An update will be sent home shortly about this new, exciting scheme.
