Science Week 2020

Science in our lives was the theme of Science week at Woodham Burn Primary. Children were tasked to produce a poster as homework demonstrating how science affected their lives and the work produced was utterly amazing.

Science week got off to an explosive start with an exciting assembly hosted by the Science department of Woodham Academy. Loud rockets, fire in a bottle and popping air were just some of the amazing demonstrations which the children were mesmerized by. This ignited a sense of excitement about science and the children were eager to share with staff how they felt. On Wednesday 11th March, children were treated to a full day of excitement. A carousel of activities throughout the school allowed children to experience exciting experiments which provoked a real passion for science and the buzz around school was incredible.

The impact of science day has certainly left a mark. During lockdown, children have been recreating tasks at home experienced on science day. Cody in Year 1 l has recreated the mentoes and coke experiment and also the cornflour and water activity using scientific language such as liquid, solid and gas. Well done Cody.

Year 1 Explore Nature

Children from Year 1 went to the Woodham Burn to explore nature. They very much enjoyed finding out new things about nature and seasonal changes. The park ranger, Mr Cooper, was very knowledgeable!
